About BWA

Beekman Wealth Advisory LLC was formed in 2003 by Elizabeth P. Anderson, CFA, to offer custom wealth education, investment analysis, and portfolio management to private investors, their families, and their trusted advisors.

Beekman Wealth Advisory is an SEC-registered investment advisor.  Although this registration does not imply any level of skill or training, it does mean that the firm operates as a fiduciary. The firm sells no products and never accepts compensation of any kind, other than the fees paid directly by clients.

The Buy-Side Perspective

Ms. Anderson has worked in the investment field since 1987, and for nearly all of that time, has worked on what is called the “buy side”.  That is, she has been employed by the owners of pools of capital—the buyers of investments– to analyze and recommend investment funds to be purchased.  This is referred to as a “manager of managers” role.

Upon becoming independent, Ms. Anderson founded Beekman Wealth Advisory, incorporating structural characteristics she believes are beneficial to buy-side clients:

Analysis, not sales: Beekman Wealth Advisory sells no products of any kind, and never accepts compensation from any party other than the firm’s direct clients.  Investment products are recommended solely on their merits, based on in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis performed by Ms. Anderson.

Unbundled services: Clients need not commit to any set “package” of services.  Each of the firm’s services—wealth education, investment analysis, and portfolio management—is available on a stand-alone basis.

Fully-disclosed, flat-dollar compensation: Beekman Wealth Advisory clients know exactly how many dollars they will pay for services provided.  Fees are always agreed in advance of an assignment, in writing, and may be changed only with the client’s prior approval.

No cookie-cutters: Every client situation is different.  Therefore, every analysis project and manager recommendation is customized for the individual client.  There is no one-size-fits-all asset allocation, manager recommendation, or analytical presentation.

Openness to outside ideas: Most clients come to Beekman Wealth Advisory with existing portfolios.  This firm welcomes this, and typically strives to retain as much of an existing portfolio as possible, consistent with providing attractive risk-adjusted prospective returns for the client.  In fact, introductions from the firm’s clients have been the source of several investment funds now used widely across BWA clients’ portfolios.

Clear, direct communication. Ms. Anderson believes investors have a right to communication that is understandable and respectful of each individual’s level of financial interest and sophistication.
